At Krav Maga Yashir Boston we never shy away from the truth: there maybe times in your life when what separates you from becoming a victim is your possession and ability to use a firearm. At the same time we acknowledge that possessing a firearm may not be suitable for all. We are not gun advocates or lobbyists but simply individuals who don't restrict our security considerations to preclude the use of firearms either for personal carry and/or home defense.

We offer three levels of training: 101 Gun Orientation, 102 Basic Pistol & Handgun Proficiency (of interest for those looking to get a permit for concealed carry in Massachusetts and a series of 103 Pistol, Shotgun & Rifle Skill Builder Courses/Sessions.

101 Gun Orientation

There are many individuals who have never actually handled a pistol, revolver or shotgun nor fully understand the capabilities and limitations of various guns and firearms. This short course (normally conducted on a Saturday afternoon) enables students to handle both unloaded weapons and use dummy ammunition to get a hands-on-feel of a variety of guns. There is an emphasis on safety and advice on the suitability of different firearms that may meet a person's individual security needs.

Instructor, Richard Feustel is an NRA qualified instructor with experience of both marksmanship and tactical use of firearms. The course (like all classes at the School) is conducted in a warm and friendly and above all respectful manner.

102 Basic Handgun Proficiency

This course is only open to existing students at the Academy. It is a "live fire" course conducted on the range and teaches the student handgun safety and basic marksmanship skills. Students who pass this course will have fulfilled the requirements that the Massachusetts State demands of individuals wishing to apply for a "concealed carry" permit.

The course takes place over a Saturday and is extremely hands on. You will shoot a large variety of different handguns (revolvers and pistols) of various calibers. Instructor Richard Feustel will also be able to assist in the filling out of the necessary paperwork for license application and give advice on purchasing a suitable handgun to meet your personal security needs.

103 Handgun Skill Builder(s)

CS Spray & Tactical Baton Training

This is an introduction to the tactical use of CS Spray & Expandable/Straight Batons for defensive use. It should be noted that Massachusetts State law does not permit the use of carrying clubs or batons for civilians and that a basic carry license is required for the carrying of CS Spray (students who attend this course are advised on how to fill out and submit an application).

Students are introduced to the different types of sprays, both synthetic and organic and taught how to deploy them effectively. This training takes place in the first 2 hours of the course and students are able to take this component as a standalone class/course.

Our Tactical Baton course introduces the student to the different types of baton e.g. positive lock batons, auto lock batons etc, how to deploy them, strike with them and perform basic blocks and controls.
