 Testimonials About Krav Maga Boston

"I can honestly say that I've never had a higher standard of instruction in my life. That includes anywhere in the military including instructors from special forces. There aren?t many people you come across in your life who you can genuinely call a teacher and you are one of them. Not just technical skill or even experience in the street, as many people have that but a deep understanding of why things work and more importantly why things don't."
Stephen R. (Military Intelligence Operative)

"One of my friends and I attended the (free) Women's Self Defense Seminar here yesterday morning. It was excellent. The instructor, Gershon Ben Keren, is incredibly knowledgeable, both technically and regarding the pathologies of sexual predators who periodically target women in bars and other such venues. Additionally, the atmosphere of Roshankish is very women-friendly; my friend and I were impressed by our instructor's attitude as well as the attitudes of the other staff members who helped out during the seminar. We are definitely thinking about signing up for other classes.

I would also recommend the Women's Self Defense Seminar to other women who are interested in taking a short class on "how sexual assaults on women occur along with an overview of the different profiles and categories of different rapists and sexual predators." Time is spent on situational awareness and practical disengagement strategies as well. My friend and I spent much of our time there punching each other, and some of our time attacking one of the instructors in a "Redman" suit.

Krav Maga Boston Testimonials

"I had driven by the Boston Academy of Krav Maga studio for several years before I went in to check it out. I can't believe I waited that long. I have only been going to instruction for less than a year, but I have learned so much in that short time, thanks to the reality-based self-defense we practice. Gershon (and the other instructors) always keep it relevant and explain the "why's" of various methods. I'd definitely recommend this place - and I have, to friends, neighbors, and clients.

"Before I have joined the Boston Academy Of Krav Maga, I have been looking for a reality based self defense school in Boston area for quite some time. I was looking for a simple, effective system that I could rely on in different situations. The first time I have talked to and trained with the head instructor Gershon, I knew that I have found the place. Gershon knows what he is talking about, has a lot of experience but more importantly likes to and has a gift for teaching. He understands that everybody has different body types, reaction and speed. He does not force one particular style or set of techniques on everybody. You get to learn multiple techniques, but in the end you tailor your defense to what works for you.

Not only he gives his students necessary striking and grappling skills, but helps to put them together and teaches how to apply them in different real world scenarios. These drills with multiple attackers, weapons and environments set Boston Academy Of Krav Maga apart from other martial arts schools I have trained in or researched.

Also, I like the people and the general atmosphere in the school. There no guys/girls with overblown egos or with something to prove. Everybody is quite respectfull and willing to help out."

Krav Maga Boston Testimonials

"I am a 60 year old woman who has been lifting weights since I was 12 years old. Needless to say I have been in my fair share of gyms and studios. Just about a year ago I was looking for a Krav Maga instructor. I came across the Boston Academy of Krav Maga and went in to take the women's self defense classes. After that first session two things were eminently clear, the principles taught in the class had the appeal of immediate application to real life situations (and better yet, taught how not to get into those situations) and second and most importantly, the instructor Gershon Ben Keren is absolutely outstanding.

Gershon is a dynamic and complex individual. Throughout that first women's self defense class I observed Gershon move with ease from the realm of the therapeutic to that of a coach/trainer who, during an attack, will shake you out of the denial stage, bust through your prey mindset and send you straight into predator mode. And remarkably, each person in the class was trained differently according to their reaction to Gershon's scenarios. Gershon quickly mentally ferreted out those who had been assaulted before and those who were in the class proactively. Everyone in that class knew they were in a safe place and that once they left that studio, they possessed tools that gave them the chance to defend themselves. After the class I went to Vinny and simply said, "Where do I sign?" I finished the self defense series, but I also joined the Krav Maga classes. I attend Gershon's Krav Maga classes 3 times a week.

Gershon's classes are always varied and we are always learning, yet we still always touch on and improve our basic foundation moves. The Krav Maga classes taught by Gershon are open to anyone regardless of their level of expertise. It is an everyday occurrence in his classes to have one classmate helping another until they comprehend the particular lesson. Everyone in this studio is treated with respect. Everyone there wants each student to achieve their best. The atmosphere at the studio is positive and energizing.

I have oftentimes remarked how fortunate we all are to have Gershon right here in Medford. To the person, everyone in class has agreed. To find an instructor of Gershon's caliber, I would have expected to utilize a week's vacation to travel to Los Angeles or New York City to train."

Krav Maga Boston's Testimonials

For years I had been meaning to begin training in a martial art, but I hesitated b/c many of the schools focus on teaching techniques without explaining (and practicing) the real world application of those techniques. The Boston Academy of Krav Maga actually STARTS with the "why & when" and then focuses on the "how." Understanding the different aspects of threats and conflict actually increases the impact of learning the physical techniques.

Additionally, Gershon (the head instructor) is AWESOME. He understands that everybody has a different reason for being there; and his teaching is very customized and personalized. As I mentioned above, he explains WHY he is teaching something, which helps us understand the reason we train a certain technique or prepare for a certain situation.

After playing a team sport through college, I missed out on the team training atmosphere. But we have developed a very good one here at BAKM. Everyone helps each other and it has a very "let's get better together" attitude rather than one that is focused on competition with each other. That doesn't mean that we don't train hard, but it's controlled and everyone is helping each other.

Finally, it's a well-rounded set-up at BAKM. Everyone has the opportunity to train techniques w/ the class, train on their own, focus on fitness (there is workout area there), spar, perform stress tests, etc...basically it's a one-stop shop for fitness, self-defense, fighting, situational awareness, etc.

While my life is very hectic, this is one of the few things that takes priority over almost everything else...and I intend to keep it that way."

Krav Maga Boston Testimonials

"Hello Gershon,

Just wanted to send a quick note of thanks to you and all the instructors at Krav Maga Boston (Yashir).

Probably not a lot of people celebrate their 55th birthday by enrolling in a program such as Krav Maga, but the no-obligation introductory class was great and quickly eliminated any concerns. It's hard to believe that six months have now passed since that first session.

In that time I've learned some valuable and practical principles of self defense, and my cardio and flexibility have greatly improved. A further bonus is th at my weight has dropped by almost 30 lbs during those six months - about one lb per week - back to what it was in college.

I would encourage anyone from complete beginner to elite athlete who might be interested to bring a friend to an introductory class and check out the top notch facilities, knowledgeable team and highly regarded Israeli Krav Maga training held at BAKM.

Thanks again!"
